JUDGING CRITERIA
To select a winner, several factors will be considered by members of the Awards Jury in evaluating each submission. All written material submitted to the various prize, awards, and grants programs of the Peterson Literary Fund shall be judged using the following criteria:
READABILITY
The Awards Jury will consider whether the material is easily comprehended, clearly written and readable. Does the writer combine lexical richness with clarity of thought? Does the writing style suit a wide audience?
ORIGINALITY
The jury members will also consider whether the subject matter is unique. If not unique, does the writer nevertheless present the subject in a fresh or original manner?
ENGAGING STORY
The Awards Jury will consider whether the material is interesting. Is it a page turner? Does it engage the reader?
Does the writer’s approach to the topic stimulate conversation?
RELEVANCE AND VALUE
The jury members will consider whether the material is relevant to the Ukrainian experience.
Does it promote a better understanding of, or have significant meaning for, Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, or the global Ukrainian community?
